What is hosting?

Hosting is a service for providing resources for placing information on a server with permanent access to the Internet.

Simply put, physical data resides on a hard drive connected to the Internet. These are usually the following files:

  • cms files;
  • photo / audio / video content;
  • database.

Hosting quality depends on many factors. If necessary, we host sites on the servers of trusted hosting companies.

What is a domain?

Domain is the name of the site, its online address, location on the Internet. On the technical side, a domain address is a record in a database. When a user specifies a domain name in the search bar, the computer understands which site to display and to which address to send the request.

Domain (domain name, domain address) – “name” of the site. Domain and site are often confused, but they are not the same thing. A site is the web pages that are displayed on the internet, that is, content. And the domain of the site is its unique “address”. If your site doesn’t have a domain, users simply won’t find their way to it and won’t see the content.

How to measure website loading speed?

Site loading speed is one of the ranking factors for search and user experience. Long loading times have a negative impact on ranking. Both Google and Yandex prefer fast resources.

If a website is loading slowly, neither search engines nor users will love it. Therefore, website promotion does not take place without a study of usability, and usability always includes speeding up page loading.

Google PageSpeed Insights is the official Google tool for testing website loading speed. One of the most used among webmasters and SEOs.

It is also the most popular SEO tool for website analysis. He can determine the download speed of the desktop and mobile versions and give recommendations on how to increase it. It shows how fast the page was loading for real users.

Shared hosting vs VPS / VDS

Shared hosting is a server with large resources, limited for the user at a rate.

VPS server is a server with limited resources at a tariff, but the user has no restrictions due to full access to the server.

On shared hosting, all server settings are made by default, since there are many clients at once. That is why, in some cases, shared hosting can work faster than VPS of the initial tariffs, where the server needs to be configured additionally.

But at the same time, on shared hosting there is no way to radically change the server settings for the site and optimize the work. In this case, we recommend using at least a line of powerful processors on VPS and hosting, and then, based on the requirements for the server, choose the level of the tariff plan.

If your budget allows you to rent a VPS / VDS, then we recommend that you do so.
